Carol’s Crusaders

This week I am excited to help my cousin raise money for her Relay for Life team.   Marissa is an elementary school teacher in La Plata Maryland and she participates in this event for her school every year.  I’m sure many of you have already heard of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.  It is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.

My aunt, Marissa’s mom, was diagnosed with breast cancer 8 years ago. She received radiation and chemotherapy.  I am happy to say that she has been cancer free for 7 years now.  Marissa’s goal is to walk 7 miles for each year!  I am so proud and inspired by her!

Please take a moment to go to her personal page and make a donation, retweet and help me spread the word or leave words of encouragement for her.  Not only is she raising money and awareness for cancer, bettering the minds of our youth but she is also planning her wedding to her fiance that is a police officer.  Just writing about her makes me want to be a better person.

Her goal is to raise $700 for her Relay for Life team but I’m hoping you all can help me get her to $1000.  I always appreciate your support.

Thank you!!
